The Flow Cell option enables the removal of fractions using the MultiPurposeSampler MPS. Removal is typically performed after separation in an LC system. The Flow Cell option impresses due to its defined inner volume and its unique septumless head SLH. Each of these ensures that the fractions are removed without discrimination or carryover. The system is controlled using the MAESTRO software.

Functional principle of the Flow Cell option

The flow cell is located in the flow route behind the column of an LC system. The MPS guides the syringe into the flow cell and removes a fraction of the liquid. At the time of removal, the needle enters the SLH, which closes off the flow cell at the top. The needle slides a movable sealing body out of the insertion channel and the sample enters the needle. When the needle is withdrawn, the sealing body seals the insertion channel again. The system is sealed off from the external environment for the entire time that removal is being performed.

Benefits

After the LC run, fractions can be removed from the chromatographically separated liquid. The unique septumless head SLH at the top of the flow cell prevents carryover and incorrect analysis results caused by septum particles. The Flow Cell option can also be used for preparatory purposes. Thanks to the MAESTRO software, controlling the system as a whole is simple and intuitive.
