Booth No. 3

The 12th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Food Analysis is one of the leading international conferences dedicated to modern food analysis, bringing together scientists and experts from industry and routine laboratories.

This year’s focus includes:

  • Environmental contaminants
  • Flavours and off-flavours
  • Mycotoxins
  • Pesticides
  • Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)
  • Process-induced contaminants
  • Food authenticity
  • Sustainable and green food analysis

Our Highlights On-Site

We will present innovative solutions for food analysis – from automated sample preparation to specialized workflows for the analysis of contaminants (e.g. MOSH/MOAH, 3-MCPD, mycotoxins), residues (e.g. pesticides), and off-flavours.

New Twister Phases

The new Twister phases expand the analytical scope of sorptive extraction. With four new sorbent phases, the expanded Twister portfolio covers a significantly broader polarity range and enables targeted adaptation to a wide variety of analyte profiles and sample matrices.

The proven PDMS phase is now complemented by new phase combinations for a broader range of applications:

  • PDMS/DVB
  • PDMS/HLB
  • PDMS/CWR
  • PDMS/DVB/CWR

further extend the portfolio. A modified Twister design with an additional outer coating also provides enhanced selectivity.

In combination with the AutoTwister, the new phases support flexible, automated, and reproducible SBSE workflows for demanding analytical applications

MOSH/MOAH & 3-MCPD

MOSH/MOAH and 3-MCPD are among the most important contaminants in modern food analysis. While MOSH/MOAH can enter food through mineral oil contamination, 3-MCPD and related compounds are formed as process contaminants, for example during the refining of edible oils.

We will present solutions covering the entire analytical workflow – from automated sample preparation and analysis to data evaluation. The presented workflows support the efficient determination of MOSH/MOAH as well as 3-MCPD, 2-MCPD, and glycidol, contributing to reproducible results and improved laboratory efficiency.

Mycotoxins

Mycotoxins occur in food and feed as a result of fungal infections, contact with other toxic organisms, or during storage. As these compounds can pose significant risks to both human and animal health, their occurrence is strictly regulated in many countries. Detecting trace levels of mycotoxins in complex food and feed matrices remains a major analytical challenge, making sample preparation a critical factor for achieving precise and reliable results.

We will present automated solutions for semi-automated (ThermELUTE® Light) and fully automated sample preparation (FREESTYLE ThermELUTE® and FREESTYLE SPE Mycotoxins) for mycotoxin analysis.

Sensory Directed Analysis Workflow - Identifizierung von Fehlaromen

An off-flavor is the sensory perception of an odor-active compound emitted from a source that smells different than expected. When an off-flavor occurs, its cause is usually unknown but can significantly impact the quality and acceptance of food products. Rapid and reliable root-cause identification is therefore essential.

The GERSTEL Sensory Directed Analysis (SDA) method addresses this challenge through sensory-guided analytical techniques for the identification of sensory-active compounds. SDA utilizes the separation power of gas chromatography in combination with the human nose and mass spectrometry to identify odor- and flavor-active compounds.
