Thermal Desorption System TDS 3
It can be used not only for conventional thermal desorption, but also for direct thermal extraction of analytes from solids.
The TDS 3 is a horizontally arranged thermal desorption system with a broad range of applications. It can be used not only for conventional thermal desorption, but also for direct thermal extraction of analytes from solids.
The TDS 3 impresses due to its full temperature control and its compact design with no cold or active points along the sample path. Using an autosampler, you can load the TDS 3 automatically.
The system is controlled using the MAESTRO software.

Functional principle of the TDS 3
The TDS 3 offers various application options.
- In classic thermal desorption, analytes that were previously enriched on an adsorbent are thermally desorbed in the TDS 3.
- In direct thermal extraction, analytes are thermally extracted from solids in the TDS 3.
In both cases, the analytes are contained in thermal desorption tubes, which are inserted horizontally into the TDS 3.
Both thermal desorption and thermal extraction are temperature-programmed. The temperatures and gas flows in the system can be individually adjusted.
Benefits
The full temperature control enables analytes to be heated gently and prevents unwanted reactions with atmospheric oxygen. The analytes are specifically separated from the sample matrix.
The compact design prevents the loss or carryover of analytes and reduces the amount of maintenance required. Using thermal extraction, you can analyze substances that cannot be injected into the GC/MS system directly using a syringe.
Thanks to the horizontal arrangement of the TDS 3, you do not require any additional tools in order to fix the sample inside the thermal desorption tube. Thanks to the MAESTRO software, controlling the system as a whole is simple and intuitive.
Options
Using the autosampler TDS A2, you can load the TDS 3 automatically.
