Symposium Website
The 44th International Symposium on Capillary Chromatography and 21st GC×GC Symposium is recognized as one of the leading scientific events in the field of modern chromatographic separation technologies, MS hyphenation, and miniaturized sample preparation.
This year’s focus includes:
- Comprehensive Separation Technologies
- Multidimensional GC-MS analysis
- Data analytics
- Sustainable analytical technologies
Our Highlights On-Site
We will present innovative solutions for automated GC-MS sample preparation, including new Twister phases and the AutoTwister.
New Twister Phases
The new Twister phases expand the analytical scope of sorptive extraction. With four new sorbent phases, the expanded Twister portfolio covers a significantly broader polarity range and enables targeted adaptation to a wide variety of analyte profiles and sample matrices.
In addition to the proven PDMS phase, new phase combinations such as:
- PDMS/DVB
- PDMS/HLB
- PDMS/CWR
- PDMS/DVB/CWR
further extend the portfolio. A modified Twister design with an additional outer coating also provides enhanced selectivity.
In combination with the AutoTwister, the new phases support flexible, automated, and reproducible SBSE workflows for demanding analytical applications

AutoTwister
The AutoTwister automates the entire SBSE workflow – from extraction to TD-GC-MS analysis. Manual and repetitive workflow steps are reduced while supporting more sustainable analytical processes through lower solvent consumption in the laboratory.
In combination with the GERSTEL MultiPurpose Sampler (MPS), extraction, washing, drying, and thermal desorption are performed fully automatically. The AutoTwister combines the high degree of automation of SPME with the efficiency of the GERSTEL Twister® and fulfills the requirements of a wide range of analytical applications, including:
- Analysis of common beverages such as tea, beer, spirits, and milk
- EU Water Framework Directive
- Method according to DIN 27108
Our Scientific Contribution
Expanding the Potential of Sorptive Extraction in Automated Sample Preparation
Frank Jacobs will present a poster on Automated Sorptive Extraction (ASE) – a new SBSE-based sample preparation technique designed for automated extraction workflows.
The contribution demonstrates how additional sorbent materials such as DVB, HLB, and activated carbon can expand the polarity range of conventional PDMS phases and support the extraction of more polar analytes. In addition, the poster highlights how ASE can be combined with the GERSTEL AutoTwister for automated Twister-based sample preparation workflows.
Visit the poster session or meet us at Booth No. 4 to discuss ASE, the AutoTwister, and the new Twister phases with Frank Jacobs.
