In headspace mode, volatile and semi-volatile compounds are enriched from liquid or solid samples. In conjunction with a GERSTEL CIS, the MPS 2 operates as a cryotrap enrichment system that focuses and concentrates the compounds of interest and then transfers them to the capillary column.
The ease of use of the MPS 2 is a significant factor in avoiding mistakes during a sample sequence. For example, in headspace mode the heated agitator thermally equilibrates each sample for exactly the same amount of time. The MPS 2 then automatically takes into account injection and GC run times to process the samples in the most efficient manner. All this is done by simply entering the desired method parameters manually or through the software interface.
