GERSTEL at PittCon 2005

Focus on Sample
Preparation and Fast GC

GERSTEL has a world-wide presence with offices in Germany, the U.S., Japan and Switzerland in addition to carefully selected, trained distributors in 64 countries.
We take pride in presenting our innovations in GC and LC to the global market at the annual PittCon shows. This issue of the GERSTEL Solutions International Magazine offers a perspective of new techniques, systems and solutions for GC and LC, presented at PittCon 2005.
Among the new GERSTEL products this year are the Modular Accelerated Column Heater (MACH) and the Automated Liner EXchange (ALEX) system.
MACH is a fast GC module, based on standard capillary GC columns. The MACH system quickly installs on an Agilent 6890 GC, significantly improving speed of analysis and throughput. It is simple to accelerate an existing GC method with MACH: The same injector, detector and pneumatics are used – MACH even uses the same capillary column type. This means that most of your existing methods can be transferred without modification. The MACH system is operated just like a standard GC: One method and one sequence list controls the complete system, including MACH, from the Agilent ChemStation software.
ALEX tackles a traditional bottle-neck in GC analysis: Sample clean-up. Samples that contain a large amount of high-boiling or solid residue normally require extensive clean-up steps prior to injection into a GC. An alternative is to frequently replace GC liners; until now this has been a manual operation step, incompatible with modern automated analysis.
ALEX in combination with the GERSTEL MultiPurpose Sampler (MPS 2) enables automated and uninterrupted analysis of “dirty” samples. The liner of the GERSTEL Cooled Injection System (CIS), the most widely used PTV-type GC inlet in the world, is automatically replaced at userdefined intervals. An example application, the determination of pesticides in fruits and vegetables, appears in this magazine.
For more information on MACH and ALEX and other GERSTEL products and solutions we cordially invite you to sample this issue of the GERSTEL Solutions worldwide Magazine. Further information is available on our web-site http://www.gerstel.com/.
If you are in sunny Florida between February 27 and March 4, please visit GERSTEL at PittCon 2005, booth number 1718.
