Company Headquarters at
in Mülheim an der Ruhr
In 1967, Eberhard Gerstel Sr., master precision mechanics craftsman, founded his company "Laboratory Precision Mechanics Gerstel". Starting in a remodelled garage in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, Mr. Gerstel's solutions such as photo reactors, flow switches and Liquid Chromatography fraction collectors for the pharmaceutical industry were well accepted and success brought welcome growth to the company.
In 1975, Gas Chromatography became a new and rapidly expanding field of activity for the company. GERSTEL developed GRAPHPACK, a simple and cost-effective technology for connecting capillary GC columns to inlets, detectors and Swagelok fittings. Nine Years later GERSTEL introduced the patented Cooled Injection System CIS, today the most widely sold PTV-type inlet in the world.
The expanding business that over the years grew to include automated sample preparation, automated sample introduction and LC/MS, meant that the company had to relocate several times to accomodate steady growth. Subsidiaries were founded in the USA, Japan and Switzerland, and a world-wide network of distributors was established.
In 2007, after many years of double-digit annual growth, GERSTEL moved to new Company Headquarters at Eberhard-Gerstel-Platz 1 in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
